32-bit: A CPU that uses 32 one's and zero's for machine code.

64-bit: A CPU that uses 64 one's and zero's for machine code. At present, there are several 64-bit CPU's. All the ones sold for PC's and Macs are 64-bit. The two main ones are Intel and HP's very powerful, but very unpopular, Itanium and AMD's x86-64, also called AMD64, EM64T, and x64. Itanium is unpopular because it is very expensive and requires completely new software for optimal performance. In fact, HP has all but abadoned support for Itanium in favor of AMD's x86-64. Software not written for Itanium perform very poorly. AMD's x86-64 software is compatible with current software and works as a 32-bit and 64-bit CPU. AMD's x86-64 is very popular because it provides a cheaper and easier upgrade path. Windows XP x64 edition and Windows Vista are written for AMD's x86-64. See also -bit.

802.11: See WiFi.

802.16: See WiMAX.

802.20: See IEEE-802.20.
